Not so long ago, UQ had a chess club which was great fun and attended by both students and non-students alike. Due to the senior members of the club graduating, the club fell a bit behind and eventually disappeared entirely from UQ life.
Ben Lazarus decided to bring back the club with the purchase of new equipment in 2009. In 2010, Brendan Griffen and Sarah Li joined the club exec and we all collectively decided it was time to get the UQ chess club really going. We hope to keep up our momentum and keep the club going for future generations of students.
As of April 2011, Tuyen Dinh, Ethan Christie and Elliott Heron have taken over the form roles of Treasurer, Secretary and Events Coordinator, respectively. These younger students will keep the club heading in a positive direction in 2011!
